CARE GUIDE BY MATERIAL
Good materials make easy jewelry. Every piece we make is built from a short list of them: solid metal bases, real plated finishes, carefully set stones and pearls, and the clear silicone cushions that rest against your ear. Each product page lists exactly what a piece is made of, and this page collects the simple care each material asks for, from how it handles water and sprays to where it likes to be stored.
METALS
Most of our pieces are built on a brass base, chosen because it is sturdy, takes plating beautifully, and stays light on the ear. Two metals stand on their own below, each with its full care notes.
Stainless Steel
Solid the whole way through, with no coating to protect. Water resistant and sweat friendly by nature, which makes it the most carefree metal we offer.
Stainless steel is happy to live your whole day with you. Showers, swimming, sprays, and workouts are all fine; just dry the pair afterward and wipe off any residue when you take them off. Like every clip-on, they come off for sleep, simply because your ears deserve the rest. Store them anywhere dry and they ask for nothing else.
Sterling Silver
Genuine 92.5 percent silver, used only where the spec is verified.
Sterling silver prefers a quieter life. Keep it out of the shower and the pool, since chlorine and salt water speed up tarnish, and let perfume and hairspray dry before the earrings go on. Take them off before a workout, and off for sleep like every clip-on. Between wears, an airtight pouch slows tarnish down; when it does appear, it is natural, expected, and reversible.
PLATINGS & FINISHES
Plating is a thin layer of real metal bonded over the brass base. It is what gives a piece its gold warmth or its cool silver-tone shine, and it appreciates gentle habits most. Each product page lists the exact plating for that piece.
Gold & Rose Gold Plated
Our warm-toned pieces are 14K, 16K, or 18K gold plated brass, with rose gold plated options across the catalog. The karat number describes the color and warmth of the plating layer.
Plating keeps its glow longest when it goes on last and comes off first. Finish your routine, let sprays and lotions dry, then put your earrings on; take them off before showers, swimming, and workouts, and off for sleep like every clip-on. A soft wipe after wearing keeps oils from building up, and a dry drawer or pouch away from harder stones keeps the finish scratch free.
Silver-Tone Finishes
Our cool-toned pieces are white gold plated brass or silver-plated brass, both with a silver-tone finish.
The same easy rules as gold plating apply here. Sprays and lotions go on first, earrings last; showers, swimming, and workouts are time off, and so is sleep, like every clip-on. Stored dry and separated, the cool silver-tone finish keeps its shine the same way gold does, because it is the same thing underneath: real plated metal over a solid brass base.
STONES & PEARLS
From a single cubic zirconia solitaire to a full pearl drop, the decorative layer is where a piece gets its personality. Hard stones and organic pearls want slightly different habits, so every card carries its own notes.
Cubic Zirconia
Lab-made stones cut to catch light like a diamond. They give our studs and cascades their sparkle at an everyday price.
A cloudy stone is almost always a coated stone, not a damaged one, and spray film is the usual culprit. Let perfume and hairspray dry before the earrings go on, keep the piece out of the shower and the pool since the settings are plated, and take it off before workouts and for sleep. Give sparkly pairs their own compartment; stones scratch platings when they share a pouch.
Pearls
Freshwater pearl, shell pearl, mother of pearl, and abalone. Organic materials with a soft glow, and the most sensitive things we sell.
Pearls have one rule above all: on last, off first, every time. Chemicals of every kind, from perfume to hairspray to lotion, dull the surface permanently, and soaking harms the nacre, so showers and swimming are out. Take them off before workouts and for sleep, and give them their own pouch away from harder stones and metal edges. Skip sealed, ultra dry spots for long stretches; pearls keep their glow best with occasional wear.
Enamel
A glossy colored layer applied over the metal surface.
The colored surface is durable; the setting under it is plated, and the plating sets the water rules. Sprays dry first, then earrings on; showers, swimming, and workouts are time off, and so is sleep. The real risk is impact rather than water, so store enamel padded and separated, where edges cannot knock against anything hard.
Ceramic
Smooth, solid color with a cool touch.
Ceramic shrugs off daily wear but can chip on impact, so hard knocks, not water, are the main risk. Even so, keep it out of the shower and the pool for the sake of its fittings, let sprays dry before it goes on, and take it off for workouts and sleep. Store it padded and separated, the same way as enamel.
LIGHTWEIGHT & SOFT
Some of our boldest silhouettes weigh almost nothing, and that is on purpose. Featherlight bodies let a statement piece stay comfortable for hours. A handful of playful designs add soft materials.
Resin
Color carried all the way through the body, so the finish is not a coating that can wear off.
Heat is the enemy here, not water. The body handles a splash, though the fittings prefer to stay dry, so skip showers and swimming; sweat is fine with a wipe after. Let sprays dry before the pair goes on, take it off for sleep like every clip-on, and store it at room temperature away from direct sun, radiators, and dashboards.
CCB
A featherlight resin core finished with a metal-look coating. It is how a chunky hoop weighs a fraction of its solid-metal twin.
The metal-look surface is a coating, so treat it as gently as plating. Let sprays dry first, keep it out of the shower and the pool, and wipe it dry after a sweaty day; it comes off for sleep like every clip-on. Store it at room temperature away from heat.
Soft Materials
Plush, flocking, fabric, and leather details on our most playful pieces.
One rule covers everything soft: keep it dry, full stop. That means no showers or swimming, no workouts, and no sprays anywhere near the surface, since they stain. Save these pairs for dry-weather days, take them off for sleep, and store them somewhere dry.
